Run England is the official England Athletics recreational running project to which aims to get the whole nation running. Regardless of your age, fitness level, aspiration, background, or location you can be a part of Run England and benefit from being a part of England's running community. We are here to help and encourage more people to run, and to run more often.
There are many people locally who are interested in improving their fitness levels but are not sure how to go about it. Cost, time and confidence are all potential barriers which the Moorside Motivators group work hard to remove.
There is no one reason for joining the group: you might want to get fit, lose some weight, socialise, simply exercise without feeling self-conscious or feel safer running with a group.
Across the 10-week course, the aim is simple: to learn to run & exercise safely, with the support and guidance of a trained Leader and the encouragement from a group of like-minded individuals, regardless of ability or experience.
We meet at 6.50pm at the Sholver Community Centre on Sholver Lane every Monday. We have a warm-up routine and meet any new starters.
Once the run has finished we have a cool-down session, together with a brief talk on how the evening has gone, and what the group & individuals can expect the following week.
Group members are actively encouraged to set simple, achievable goals, including taking part in any additional running events, such as local timed runs. These are a great way to see personal improvement.
The group is for everyone: from absolute beginners wanting to start running from scratch or those returning to running or needing to build up confidence before joining a local running organisation.
Joining the Moorside Motivators is a great way to safely improve your fitness whilst making new friends in an enjoyable and sociable environment.
Official Run England Registered Groups are led by Leaders who hold a current UKA Leadership in Running Fitness or Coach Licence and have undertaken to work according to the terms of that licence. They receive the benefit of UKA public liability insurance. Details of cover provided can be found at www.uka.org.uk/governance/insurance.
Group members can ask to see their group leader's licence to confirm that it is a current and valid licence.
